This line, which includes a notebook and a variety pack of various pens and pencils, focuses on different archetypes within a friend group and the dynamics they contribute to the group through their unique personalities. The challenge with this group was finding a way to display the unique voices of each character, not through illustration or photography, but with fabric patterns and textures. Owned by 3 brothers. Their inspiration for opening their restaurant is their mother, who they refer to as Abuela. Abuela would not give up her recipes, so the brothers had to get together and figure out how to recreate their favorite dishes to be almost like Abuela’s. Being proud first generation born Americans, they still are very in touch with their Cuban roots and the… colorful… expressions they grew up learning and now are using with their own children. I proposed the idea of KORE. KORE is a non-alcoholic spirit that is infused with butterfly pea blossoms to give a unique color to cocktails and allow those people who are excluded from drinking spaces due to a variety of reasons. He tells you the story of the first memories he was able to extract from two bone fragments that, by chance, had known each other in life and were now reconnecting over a thousand years later. This series kit includes a book, memory cards, a notebook to record memories, a wooden sign and a wooden box to contain the smaller items. The goal for this project was to create a kit inspired by long distance relationships and have it help connect people in long distance relationships connect through shared experiences. My inspiration for this series was to show the duality of each of the plays of what is reality and what is fiction. To achieve this, I created an acrylic hard cover so that there could be an interior illustration that could be seen through die cuts on the jacket. The challenge with this piece was finding a way to tie all of the jackets together through similar visuals. The solution was to use paper cut outs to create the book jacket illustrations. The brand, instead of being dark and foreboding, is bright and inspired by 1980’s-1990’s color palettes and illustrations. Their bright and lighthearted personality ties well into this 7 item kit that I developed. This kit is inspired by all of the light-hearted television comedies from the 90’s about witches living in the modern age. The story of this kit follows a young man who is moving in with his girlfriend into her apartment. As he is moving in, he notices a lot of unusual objects around the apartment and decides it is best not to ask questions, but rather wildly speculate what these objects could possibly be for.
